Scarab Beetles (Scarabaeidae)

Osmoderma scabra

Parc du Bout de l’Ile, Montreal, August 2014

At first unknown to me, thanks to BugGuide.net, I learned the name of this interesting insect: Osmoderma scabra, from the family of Scarab Beetles (Scarabaeidae). It’s a large beetle and flying around it makes a noise like the nearby motorboats (okay, I am exaggerating, like a motorboat 3km away).
