White-crowned Sparrow - Zonotrichia leucophrys

A mid-sized sparrow, breeding and nesting in the northern part of Canada, migratory, spending winter south of central Mexico. Can be seen in the area during migration North. Forage on the ground, mostly seeds, plants and insects.

Where & When to Spot

Seen only once in Tadoussac in May during the migration of this species.

How to Identify

White and black stripes on the head, gray throat, neck and body. Very similar to White-throated Sparrow but without the yellow stripes and no white throat.
