Photos of American Toad - Anaxyrus americanus
This species lives in forests and flat grasslands and breeds in shallow pools or ponds. Preferred diet is insects and worms. For breeding, an adult returns to the same pool where it hatched. Thanks to kin recognition, the species is able to prevent incest.

9 years after having seen this species, a photo from the second sighting.

My one and only toad seen in the Montreal area. Its colours perfectly match the surround fallen leaves in autumn.
