How to use MEL. Documentation and feature description.
Functionality
This app allows users to record precise timestamps for up to three different events. Recordings are saved in JSON, Markdown, or Text format, depending on user preferences. The app’s intuitive interface ensures ease of use while providing complete control over recording sessions and data management.
The app consists of home screen, timestamp recording screen and detail view of recording and sessions.
Screens and Features
Home Screen
The main hub for accessing all app features.
- Start New Recording - Create a new recording, container for recording sessions.
- View All Recordings - View a list of all saved recordings.
- App Settings - Customize app display mode, username and export format
Start New Recording
Set up and begin a new recording session.
- Enter a name and optional description for the recording.
- Start a first recording session to capture timestamps for up to three events.
- Stop Recording: When finished, you are redirected to the Recording Details screen.
View All Recordings
A list of all saved recordings where you can select a recording to view the session details of the selected recording.
- Recording Details - View details of the selected recording, including session name, description, and timestamp data.
- Start New Recording (toolbar) - Icon upper right to start creating a new recording.
Recording Details
View details of a selected recording, including recording name, description, and timestamp data of each session.
- Edit Name and Description: Update the recording's name or description.
- Delete Session: Delete a selected session while preserving the recording.
- Record Session: Continue recording timestamps in a new session for the selected recording.
- Delete Recording: Permanently delete the selected recording with all sessions.
- Share Recording (toolbar): Export the recording with all sessions in the chosen format (JSON, Markdown, or Text) by sharing it.
App Settings
Customize app preferences and user information.
- Edit Username - Set or update the user’s name, which appears in exported files.
- Change Mode - Select the app’s display mode: System, Dark or Light
- Edit Export Format - Choose file format for exporting recordings: JSON (default), Markdown, or Text.
Usage Notes
- Exporting Files: - Recordings are saved in the device as JSON files but can be shared as either JSON, Markdown or Text file.
- Recording Sessions: - Timestamps are recorded in a session associated with a recording. Sessions can be short or longer. We recommend though not exceeding 5 minutes in a session.
- Deleting Data - Be cautious when deleting sessions or recordings; deleted data cannot be recovered.
